WonderFL – Jackson County

Serving as one of the gateways into Florida, Jackson County is the perfect spot for an array of excursions, historical sites, and great adventure. Founded in 1827, Jackson County is the only Florida county that borders both Alabama and Georgia. With historical lore, natural springs, and quaint small towns, Jackson County has tons to offer.

One of Jackson County’s most popular excursions is the Marianna Caverns. These breathtaking caverns are a unique view of life under Florida soil. In the caverns, a visitor will find formations of limestone, flowstones, and draperies, along with man-made carvings dated back to the 1930s. At the caverns, a visitor can also hike, camp or fish in the state park.

Jackson County is also home to major agriculture operations. One of those operations is Jackson Farms. Jackson Farms is a family-owned and operated farm in Grand Ridge, FL. This family farm grows tomatoes, strawberries, and so much more. With the Florida heat and wet soil almost all year round, this area is bountiful in produce and makes a great pit stop for a delicious souvenir.

To cool off in the Florida heat, Jackson County is also home to Blue Springs. Blue Springs is a spring located in quaint, Marianna, FL. The spring is fed through a pond nearby which brings aquamarine features into the cool waters. Blue Springs is able to be kayaked in, swam in, and even is home to one of the world’s best cave diving experiences.

Whether a visitor wants to learn more about life on the farm, or needs a dip to beat the Florida sun, Jackson County has something for everyone. From exploring neat underground caves to visiting local agriculture spots, Jackson County is waiting for a visit!
