Pine Trees as Far as the Eye Can See
Northwest Florida is home to over 19 state parks and the Gulf Islands National Seashore — a national park. Apalachicola National Forest, the largest National Forest in the state of Florida, invites visitors to hike, bike, camp, and horseback ride across 630,000 acres.
At Falling Waters State Park in Chipley, enormous trees, a 100-foot-deep sinkhole and Florida’s highest waterfall make it a dream for amateur explorers and expert hikers alike.
The Tributaries of Life
Whether the day is calling you to be a beach bum or an underwater explorer, Northwest Florida has got you covered. Sink down to visit a 500-foot World War I battleship off the shore of Pensacola or the 479-foot British tanker in the waters of Panama City. Shipwreck trails are available for expert guidance.
Looking for something more laid-back but just as fun? Try some peaceful paddling in Pensacola or set sail in the salty playground of Port St. Joe. Northwest Florida is also home to several rivers like the Apalachicola and the Choctawhatchee, both of which offer fantastic fishing and kayaking opportunities.
NWFL Marks the Spot
Northwest Florida’s rural living and emerald waters will bring out your inner pirate. Whether it’s spelunking through the caves of Florida Caverns State Park or taking a deep dive to explore sunken vessels, the only thing that would make this more of an expedition is if treasure were at the end of the trail.
Northwest Florida’s 19 state parks and one national park provide ample opportunity to seek out adventure and explore new terrain.
